About the Exhibit:
Dr. Palamar teaches environmental studies and art courses at Antioch College, and has a very diverse academic background with advanced degrees in environmental science, philosophy, and fine arts.
Her work focuses on investigating the interconnections between humans and their environments. The works on display in this exhibition are from a series called Cartographies of Consumption, which reflects upon urban sprawl and its effect on social communities. Palamar’s work is brightly colored and uses simplistic imagery to depict patterns of land use and human reactions and responses to those patterns.
This exhibition is a unique celebration of the diversity that Antioch College encourages in its students and faculty. With her background in science and philosophy, Dr. Palamar is able to bring a decidedly intellectual approach to her work as a visual artist. She is interested primarily in using the visual arts as a way of educating the public about the myriad environmental problems that continue to plague our culture.
You can view more of Dr. Palamar's work at www.ecologies.org.
