Tom has been a member of the Co-op faculty since 1975 and Director since 2002. He held other positions at the College as director of the Adult Degree Completion Program and Associate Dean of Faculty, but his educational identity and commitments are in the cooperative education program. He has recently been involved in some consulting work with smaller, and usually rural, school districts in Ohio in the area of public involvement in school policy making. These have taken the forms of mobilizing levy campaign groups, focus groups, public forums and multi-level evaluation of key school leaders as consultant to school boards. His interest in "civic intelligence" and its development has permeated his career and has taken other forms and focus. His reading and writing interests revolve around the development of “civic intelligence,” formulation of career and personal life commitments, and the pedagogy of work-based learning. His recent travels and work in Brazil, China, South and West Africa have contributed to his developing interest in cross-cultural skill development
