What to bring
What you should bring with you:
Keychain for room and hall key and a means to carry your CAF meal card
Pillows and bedding to fit a standard twin size bed (xtra-long is best). Mattress pad!
Clothes for all seasons and hangers
Towels and toiletries (including flip-flops for the shower)
Reading/desk lamp
Small stereo or radio (with headphones!)
Alarm clock
Things that please you to decorate your room
Two-sided spongy tape (or wall putty for mounting) for putting things on the wall with the least damage – the bookstore also stocks this. Most rooms have bulletin boards.
You might want a mini-fridge for personal food storage and to share with your roommate
Small wastebasket
What you should not bring with you:
Animals or pets of any kind (you’ll be charged a fine and could lose your housing privileges if found)
Fireworks, firearms, or weapons of any kind
High-wattage appliances such as microwaves, hot plates, toaster ovens, coffee pots/hot water pots, electric blankets, space heaters, air conditioners, halogen lamps or other flammable items, including candles (NO CANDLES)
Large screen TVs and other home theatre items
Bringing a bike to Antioch?
Yellow Springs is a bike-friendly town, and the nearby bike trail can take you as far as Cincinnati or Springfield (or to Young's Dairy). Be sure to bring a really good U-bar lock or thick chain, and use it every time you park your bike. Bicyclists must obey ALL the rules of the road. You can register your bike with the Yellow Springs Police Department and get a sticker, helpful in case your bike is stolen. The community Bike Shop can help with repairs, and sometimes has bikes available for borrowing.
