Community Centers

Community Government (CG) supports six Community Centers. Community Centers provide resources to all community members free of charge or at low prices. Each term CG hires coordinators for all of the Community Centers, as well as budgets to support their work.

Alternative Library

First floor of Pennell House
The Alternative Library acts as a resource for radical and progressive thinking on Antioch's campus. The library is open to students, staff, faculty and the extended community. The Alternative Library's efforts are focused on creating and contributing to discussions on social activism and social structure that challenge the community in an educational way. Toward this end the Alternative Library serves as a meeting place for Independent Groups, formal and informal study groups, as well as a clearinghouse for radical and progressive literature.

AIMAC (Antioch Independent Media Arts Collective)

Second floor of the Union
The Antioch Independent Media Arts Collective provides the Antioch community with two main services: an audio recording studio and the screening of a wide-assortment of movies and films. AIMAC owns a 2035 VHS film collection, that is currently being organized and made accessible to the entire community.

Community Bikeshop

Basement of Mills Residence Hall
The Community Bikeshop provides Antioch community members the opportunity to use free communally-owned bikes to get around campus and Yellow Springs. Community bikes can be recognized by their distinctive colors: atomic green, neon pink, etc. If a community bike is unattended, it is open for any community member to use. Community Bikes are not be taken off-campus!

Community Darkroom

Second floor of the Union
All community members are welcome in the Darkroom whether or not they are taking a film or photo class. The Community Darkroom provides free chemicals for paper and film developing, as well as sepia and blue washes and colored toners for prints. Community members wishing to use the Darkroom must supply their own paper.

Freecycle

Second floor of Pennell House
Taking the idea that someone's junk is another's treasure and running with it, the FreeCycle is where members of the Antioch community can leave unwanted personal possessions that others might want or be able to use.

Silkscreen Studio

Basement of Pennell House
Since Antioch is such a political community, rich with ideologies and slogans, CG funds the Silkscreen Studio. Here, community members can create a wide assortment of propaganda materials, or just original pieces of clothing and art. It is free of charge to all community members.
