Loans

Loans, unlike grants or work-study, are borrowed money that must be repaid. Education loans come in three major categories: student loans (e.g., Stafford and Perkins loans), parent loans (e.g., PLUS loans) and private student loans (also called alternative student loans).

There are several types of Federal Loans available: Federal Perkins Loans, Federal Stafford Loans, or PLUS Loans. These funds are for educational purposes only.  These guaranteed loans are insured by a guarantee agency and backed by the federal government. Antioch uses Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation (GLHEC) as the guaranty agency for loans. For students and parents who have not previously borrowed a Federal Stafford or PLUS Loan.  If you would like to use a lender that is not listed, please contact our office and we will gladly process the loan for you.  Take a look at My Lender List to find out which lender may offer you the most savings for your Stafford and/or PLUS loan.

Alternative Student Loans

Individual lenders offer a wide variety of alternative student loan options. Most require a credit check and/or co-signers. Alternative loan information is available in the Financial Aid Office for select lenders.  See our Alternative Loan Brochure for more information about our select lenders. Other applications and information must be obtained directly by the lending institution.
