Tom’s current research focuses upon the structure and composition of the eastern deciduous forest associations and the use of digital imagery to document native floristics. Tom has worked in higher education since 1972 and is committed to science education and experiential interdisciplinary study. Tom currently is teaching courses at Antioch focusing on field botany, plant biology, forest ecology, vegetation analysis and GIS, eco-agriculture, native plant populations, and restoration ecology. He consistently attempts to involve students in meaningful academic work in Antioch College’s Glen Helen Nature Preserve.
Hobbies
Tom has a wide variety of interests including: construction of 17th and 18th century reproduction American cabinetry and houses; wooden canoe history, design, and building; and organic gardening.
