C. Robert Pryor
Associate Professor and
Director of AEA Buddhist Studies Program

B.S., University of Michigan; M.A.T., Antioch College.

Teaching Responsibilities

Robert designed the Antioch Buddhist Studies Program and has taken groups of students to India as program director since 1979. He teaches courses on Contemporary Buddhist Culture and Buddhist Meditation Traditions.

About

He is also active in the local community as a trustee of the Yellow Springs Dharma Center, an organization whose activities involve both Antioch students and Yellow Springs residents. In 1987, he founded Insight Travel, an educationally-oriented company that focuses on pilgrimage in Asia. Robert was a consultant for BBC television on its film In The Footsteps of the Buddha.

His approach to teaching emphasizes the use of anthropological methods, and he is particularly interested in the social and institutional impact of Buddhism as it interacts with American culture.
