About
Chris Hill is a media curator and artist whose recent curatorial projects include Inside & Out: Witnessing Prison in the U.S. (2001), a 30-year survey of documentary media and radio (with Anne Bohlen), and Living Archives, an international symposium in Prague (2001) that featured artists whose work directly engaged or performed media archives.
Hill's recent publications include (Re)performing the Archive: Barbara Lattanzi & Hollis Frampton in Dialogue (Millennium Film Journal, Winter, 2003). She curated the 17-hour series Surveying the First Decade: Video Art & Alternative Media in the U.S., 1968-1980 for Video Data Bank (1996) and edited its accompanying text Rewind. Walking Trips in Czech Lands (1997) is a bi-lingual website she developed for the Prague exhibition Art in Public Spaces featuring interviews with Czech media artists active during cultural and political changes of the late 80s/early 90s. From 1984-95 she directed the video program at Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center in Buffalo, New York.
